The Hayfield baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader to the defending Class AA state champs in Kasson Friday.
Kasson-Mantorville (4-1 overall) took the first game 7-5 and they won the nightcap 21-8.
Hayfield (1-2 overall, 1-2 HVL) trailed the first game 4-0 after one inning but they came back to take a 5-4 lead before bowing out. The Vikings walked 15 batters in the nightcap.
“It was an early test for us,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “In the first game I thought we passed it and I wasn’t very disappointed with it. The second game our lack of pitching depth was shown.”
