NWS issues winter weather advisory for Thursday, Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for blowing snow throughout Thursday and into Friday.

NWS meteorologists predict up to 1 inch of snow for the Austin area Thursday, but temperatures will drop from a high of 28 degrees to a low of -3 Thursday night. In addition, a west wind with gusts as high as 44 mph will hit the area throughout the day. Wind chills are expected to drop to -15 to -25 Thursday night and Friday morning.

Friday should bring mostly sunny weather with a high of 10. The snow will stop early Friday morning, but there’s a 40 percent chance of more snow in the area after 7 p.m. Less than 1 inch of snow accumulation is possible Friday night.
