Austin, Grand Meadow, LeRoy-Ostrander and Southland schools have canceled after school activities, including sports, due to blowing and drifting snow.

A winter advisory is in effect until 6 p.m., as a few inches of snow and 20 to 30 mph winds with 35 to 45 mph gusts have caused blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no unnecessary travel in southeastern Minnesota due to the poor conditions. No highway or interstate closures are expected.

 

The following school districts have canceled after school activities for Tuesday, Jan. 14:
