On Sunday Dec. 8, Mayer Funeral Home held its first Service of Remembrance.

The event was held for families that have lost loved ones in 2013 and that Mayer Funeral Home has served.

“All of us at Mayer Funeral Home are very aware how difficult it can be without a loved one around during the holiday season,” said Eric Weerts, funeral director. “We wanted to provide a time for families to come in and be part of a service that included music by Shirley Cahill, uplifting messages by Father Jim Steffes and Reverend Dale Christiansen and of course enjoy holiday treats and refreshments.”

Kathy Dufault, funeral director, said each family was presented with a glass angel bearing their loved one’s name.

“They were all very appreciative that we hadn’t forgotten about them, especially during the holidays,” Dufault said.
