Donald Dean Price, Sr., 88, passed from this life Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. Private services will be held in the Bakersfield National Cemetery.

Donald was born in Kendalville, Iowa, Aug. 26, 1925. He served in the Navy during World War II from Nov. 7, 1943, to April 13, 1946, enlisted in the Army during Korean War from Jan. 17, 1949, to Aug. 7, 1952, and re-enlisted with the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War from June 20, 1967, to July 16, 1970. In between active duty he supported his family as a farmer in Iowa and owned and operated motor repair businesses in Wyoming and California. In 1993, he retired in Cheyenne, Wyo. and moved to Taft, Calif. Donald enjoyed hunting, camping and gold prospecting. He was a member of the 49‘ers gold prospecting club.

He enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald was predeceased by his parents, George and Bessie Price; siblings, Lester, George, Anna Marie, Julius and Mildred; daughters-in-law, Lou Ann Price and Mary

of Joplin, Mo.; and daughter, Connie Merlak (Steven), of Peoria, Ariz. Grandchildren, Kathy Stark, Alan Stark (Nancy), Vance Price, Jr. (Shirley), Christine Schyma (Rich), David Cooper, Tonia Voris (Mark), Louis Price, Jr., Shacee Young (Josh), Tommy Price,
