Robert Clayton Hansen, 94, of Austin, Minn., died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, surrounded by loving family at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.

He was born June 11, 1919, in Grand Meadow, Minn., to Clayton and Margie (Warn) Hansen. Robert grew up in Grand Meadow in the Methodist faith, graduating from Grand Meadow High School in 1937. In 1939, he was united in marriage to Barbara King in Cresco, Iowa. To this union five children were born. They divorced in 1976.  Robert spent his career at Hormel Foods Corp. from 1941 until he retired more than 35 years later in 1976. Following retirement, he married Elaine Jenson in Austin in 1983. They divorced in 2005. After living in Mesa, Ariz. for 20 years, Robert returned to Austin in 2006, to be near family. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, and built many houses for his family.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Milford) Nelson, of Austin; Carol Johnson and Roberta Hansen, of White Bear Lake, Minn.; one son, David (Nora) Hansen, of O’Brien, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lou Hansen, of Richfield, Minn., Sue Hansen, of Byron, Minn.; former wife, Elaine Hansen; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Margie Hansen; daughter, Patricia Hansen Schocker; one granddaughter, one great-grandson; five brothers, Warren (Lillian) Hansen, Phillip, Paul, Gordon, and Richard Hansen; sister, Maxine (Addison) Jacobson; former wife, Barbara Hansen Myhre Harding.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Grand Meadow. The family prefers that memorials be directed to Comforcare Good Samaritan Center or to the recipient of donor’s choice.
