Boys soccer: Packers blank Cougars

The Austin boys soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Mankato East (6-2-3 overall, 2-2-1 Big Nine) in Art Hass Stadium Tuesday.

Roel Torres put Austin (3-3-2 overall, 1-1-1 Big Nine) on the board when Roel Torres took a free kick and passed it to Riley Grinstead, who gave it back to Torres, who scored a goal.

Austin’s second goal came from Ochan Ochogi on an assist from Levi Veirkandt.

“It’s a great win,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “East is always among the top teams and they’re playing some good soccer right now. It’s a very positive sign, but still need to stay focused.”

Austin senior Abraham Manzano picked up his first career shutout in the win as he made a couple of key saves late in the game. Manazano finished with five saves and the Packers had 10 shots.
