Fire commission will select three finalists Sept. 23

The Austin Fire Civil Service Commission is considering five applicants, including one from the Austin Fire Department, to be the city’s next fire chief.

The five applicants are Joshua Anderson, Jay Bohan, Kevin Harmes, James McCoy and Terry Petersen. Petersen is one of three commanders in Austin’s fire department.

The commission will meet on Monday, Sept. 23, to certify applicants and to pick three finalists, according to Human Resources Director Tricia Wiechmann. Wiechmann said the city doesn’t have a timeframe for hiring the fire chief, as the interview and background search process could vary for candidates.
