The Austin boys soccer just can’t seem to get its offense going.

The Packers were shutout for the third straight game, but they were able to snap three-game losing skid as they held Winona (4-6-2 overall, 1-5-2 Big Nine) to a 0-0 tie in Winona Monday.

The Packers (4-6-3 overall, 2-3-2 Big Nine) fired off 28 shots, but most of them are outside of 18 feet.

“We’ve got to get in closer,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “I think after Homecmoming weekend and a long bus ride, the intensity level wasn’t quite there. We played good soccer, but not as good as we’re capable of playing.”

Austin keeper Abraham Manzano had 10 saves and he made one big save in the second half to keep the game tied.

“Most keepers wouldn’t have stopped that one,” Levisen said. “He basically saved the game.”

Austin will play at Faribault Tuesday at 7 p.m. and it will host Rochester John Marshall this Thursday for parent’s night at 7 p.m.
