The Mower County Beef Cook-Off will be 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Crane Pavilion in the Mower County Fairgrounds.

The event, sponsored by the Mower County Cattlemen Association, will judge cooks on the best beef recipes cooked entirely on barbecue grills at fairgrounds. Contestants are responsible for furnishing their own grills, utensils and presentation materials, must be at least 18 years old and may have one assistant. There is no entry fee.

Contestants will be judged on taste, ease of preparation and practicality, overall appeal and appearance. Each entry will receive a $10 beef certificate, and first place will receive a $100 beef certificate, followed by certificates for $50, $25, $10 and $10. A $25 culinary presentation award will also be granted. Judging will begin at 4:45 p.m.
