Geraldine M. Misgen, 97, of Austin, Minn., died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at The Cedars of Austin.

Geraldine Mary Fairchild was born May 30, 1916, in Mohal, N.D., to Earl and Nettie (Knode) Fairchild. A 1935 graduate of Chester High School, Chester, Iowa, Geraldine moved to Austin and worked at Woolworth’s as a cashier and at Neveln Elementary School. On Dec. 8, 1935, she married Cecil C. Misgen in Iowa. Cecil passed away on Jan. 23, 1990. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Geraldine was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed several years of fishing and hunting in Max, Minn. She also loved square dancing, archery, camping and playing cards. Geraldine was a wonderful cook. She was godmother to several nieces and nephews. In 2008, Geraldine moved to The Cedars.

Survivors include her sister, Beverly Fairchild of Galt, Calif.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Nettie Fairchild, husband Cecil Misgen, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor William Odermann officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Services prearranged and performed by Worlein Funeral Home of Austin.
