The Summerset Theatre hopes area residents say “yes” to the proposal of their summer debut next week.

Summerset’s 46th season opens with the musical “I Do! I Do!” at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at Riverland Community College’s Frank W. Bridge’s Theatre, with additional performances at 7:30 p.m. June 12 to 15.

The story follows Michael and Agnes as they navigate married life from their wedding day vows to their 50th anniversary.

“‘I Do! I Do!’ played for over 22 years at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, so that’s a testament to the popularity of this show with Minnesota audiences,” Summerset Theatre Executive Director Lindsey Duoos Williams said in a press release. “The music is wonderful and the show is both funny and sentimental; I think it’s the perfect way to kick off our summer season.”

“I Do! I Do!” is directed by David Dahlquist and stars John Deyo as Michael and Kaye Perry as Agnes. Both actors have performed in many Summerset Theatre shows.

“I picked Kaye and John because they are excellent singers and actors,” Dahlquist said in a press release. “They work well together and are experienced in acting and marriage. They have been friends for many years and have done many shows together as stage husband and wife.”

The show is appropriate for all ages.

Individual tickets for “I Do! I Do!” are $15 for adults and $10 for children age 16 and under. Tickets are on sale at the Summerset box office in room E107 of Riverland’s east building.
