Two people arrested after an alleged chase — which resulted in one suspect hiding in a trunk — have been charged in Mower County Court.

Tammy Davenport, 44, of Austin, was charged with a felony for aiding an offender. Willister Davenport Jr., 19, was charged with fleeing an officer and liquor consumption under 21, both misdemeanors.

Austin Police officers arrested the Davenports Tuesday after Willister allegedly fled officers and got into the trunk of a car that Tammy then drove away from the area.

An officer was in the 100 block of 13th Street Northeast shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday and recognized a person, Willister, with outstanding warrants. Police say Willister ran from them and got into the trunk of a Buick. Officers pulled over the driver, Tammy, at an on ramp to Interstate 90 and asked who was in the trunk. According to the police report, Tammy said Willister was in the trunk but that she was going to turn him into the police.

Police arrested both Tammy and Willister. According to the Austin Police Department, Willister had outstanding warrants for theft, possession of stolen property and aggravated robbery.
