ROCHESTER — The Austin softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Rochester John Marshall to open its season Thursday.

The Packers lost 7-0 and 13-3 in six innings.

Austin (0-2 overall, 0-2 Big Nine) was in a scoreless tie in the opener, when the Rockets (4-0 overall, 4-0 Big Nine) tallied five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

“It was nice to get outside and play and we’re going to get better,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said.
