Head on crash causes injuries

Five people survived a crash with minor injuries Saturday afternoon in Mower County.

According to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol, Austin resident Daniel Stewart, 28, was driving a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville south on Highway 218 north of Austin shortly before 2 p.m. Faribault resident Amy Snyder, 23, was headed north on the other side of the undivided road in a 2009 Pontiac G6. The vehicles collided head-on near Milepost 14.

Both Stewart and his passenger Richard Loomis, 85, sustained minor injuries, while no one in the G6 appeared to be hurt. Snyder was in the car with Austin resident Fernando Marin, 25, and a juvenile.

Road conditions were dry on the undivided roadway at the time of the accident, according to the report. Austin and Mower County authorities assisted on the scene, along with a Gold Cross ambulance.
