DOVER – The Austin wrestling team closed out its regular season with a 47-26 loss to Dover-Eyota and a 40-35 win over Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander-Kingsland in Dover Friday.

“We bounced back nicely from our loss on Thursday night with a pair of sharp performances,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “Dover-Eyota is a solid team, and we were wrestling them evenly until a few upper weight matches got away from us.”

Austin senior Brennen Russell picked up his 98th and 99th career win and senior Devon Felten tallied his 95th and 96th career wins. Brandon Cotter picked up his 60th career win for the Packers (6-9 overall).

“Brandon has wrestled so well for us this season,” Kinney said. “I believe he has an excellent chance to advance out of individual section tournament.”

Austin senior Zach Nelson went 2-0 with a pin.

“Zach is capable of wrestling well against anyone,” Kinney said. “It would be great to see him put together a strong run in the postseason.
