The Mower County Humane Society will host its annual pasta dinner and silent/live auction fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 inside the Austin Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom. Local band Rush Hour will play at the beginning of the event. Tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for children 8 and younger, and all proceeds go to the humane society’s general fund for expenses and upkeep.

Humane Society volunteers said last month the new animal shelter located on the east side of town — what will become 22nd Street Southeast — will be completed on schedule by the end of February. Volunteers will move animals, more than 100 cats and about 25 dogs, to the new shelter later this spring.
