HAYFIELD — The No. 3 Hayfield girls basketball team opened the Section 2AA South Division Tournament with a 64-38 win over No. 6 Medford (9-18 overall) in Hayfield Tuesday.

Dani Wagner had 19 points to lead Hayfield (18-8 overall) and Jo Bungum added 16.

Bungum hit three 3-pointers in a row to start the second half to put it away for the Vikings.

Hayfield opened the game on an 18-0 run.

The Vikings will play No. 2 Southland at Mankato East High School Friday at 8 p.m.
