Beatrice Dankert, 97, of Austin, Minn., died at Sacred Heart Care Center on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.

Beatrice was born in Little Turkey, Iowa, to Anton and Mary (Jarosh) Novotny. As a young woman, Bea moved to Austin where she met and married John Dankert. She and John had three sons, Wayne, Larry and Allen. After raising her children, she worked as a housekeeper at St. Mark’s Nursing Home and as a manager of the Student Letter Exchange.

Bea was a charter member and lifelong volunteer at Queen of Angels Parish. She volunteered at Sacred Heart Care Center, the Philomatheon Book Store, the Salvation Army and the Austin Hospital. She was a member of the Austin Art and Travel Club and enjoyed traveling during her retirement.

Her parents, her husband and her youngest son, Allen, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Wayne (Mary) of New York, N.Y.; her son Larry of Faribault, Minn.; and granddaughters Sarah (Cory) Kim-Tomcek of Hoboken New Jersey and Dr. Nicole (David) Hsu of New York.

A wake will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to the funeral Mass on Friday. A rosary and prayer service officiated by Father Tupper will be held at Thursday’s wake at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Queen of Angels Church with burial immediately after at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
