Hayfield girls fall to Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE — The Hayfield girls basketball team shot just 24 percent from the field as it lost to Stewartville (5-9 overall, 2-2 HVL Gold) by a score of 47-46 on the road Tuesday.

The Vikings (8-5 overall, 2-1 HVL Gold) forced 26 turnovers, but they couldn’t convert enough of them into offense.

“It was a tough loss and we’ve got to play better,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said.

Hayfield hit a three to pull within one with five seconds left, but it couldn’t get a steal as time expired.
