Janice Ann Hoy, 77, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at her home in Austin.

Janice Ann Maxfield was born Jan. 26, 1935, in LaCrosse, Wis., the daughter of Frieda Timmerman Maxfield and James Maxfield Sr. For many years, Janice worked as the early morning waitress at Harry’s Café on Austin’s East Side. She was married to Eugene Hoy on Aug. 16, 1975.

Janice was a member of Crane Community Chapel in Austin and the United Support Group. She loved playing bingo at area casinos and was an animal lover. Janice was an avid Minnesota Twins’ fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Hoy; son, George Thistlethwaite; brother, James Maxfield Jr.; and her dog Mitzi.

She is survived by daughters, Marlis (Ron) Thompson, Emmons, Minn., and Penra Grimley (Art Nelson), Austin; sister, Delores (Frank) Waletzki, Austin; sister-in-law, Joanne Maxfield, Austin; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Thistlethwaite, Hayfield, Minn.; Godson, Todd (Michelle) Waletzki, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Bill (Terrie) Hallman, Dawn (Ron) Egge, Michael (Shelley) Grimley, Kellie (Shane) Drenth, Amanda Thistlethwaite, Chelsea Thistlethwaite, Chad Heydt; great-grandchildren, Brianna (Cody) Smith, Lauren Egge, Lindsey Egge, Zach Hallman, Nick Hallman, Quinton Grimley; and great-great-grandson, Lane Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Crane Community Chapel with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Interment will be in the Byron Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday morning for one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Health Systems Austin Hospice Program.

Honorary bearers will be Todd Waletzki, Bill Hallman, Michael Grimley, Kellie Drenth, Shane Drenth, Nicole Waletzki, Garrett Waletzki and Dawn Egge.
