SAINT CHARLES — Decker Bendtsen hit a three to put the Rebel boys basketball team up one late and they held on to beat Saint Charles (1-1 overall, 0-1 Three Rivers) 57-51 on the road Tuesday.

The Rebels (2-0 overall, 2-0 Three Rivers) trailed 51-49 when Bendtsen hit his three with 1:30 left. Southland’s Chris Wolff got a steal on SC’s next possession and he knocked down two free throws after drawing a foul.

The Rebels had led for most of the game, but SC’s Aaron Leistikow got going from the three-point arc as he finished with 29 points.

“He was a man and we were even playing good defense on him,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said. “But we didn’t let anyone else get going.”
