Packer girls drop opener to New Prague

NEW PRAGUE — The Austin girls basketball team lost its season opener by a score of 71-60 at New Prague (1-0 overall) Tuesday.

The Packers (0-1 overall) were led by senior Jenna Svoboda, who poured in 23 points.

“I was pleased with the fight we showed and I thought we got better throughout the game,” Austin head coach Todd Johnson said. “Jenna carried us in the second half.”

Austin was within five for most of the first half, but the Trojans used a run to go up 11 at the break and they led by as many as 22 in the second half.
