Matchbox Children’s Theatre in Austin will kick off its 38th season with the holiday production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever on Nov. 9, 10 and 11 at the Paramount Theatre. Public performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Director Angela Donovan is directing a cast of 42 in the script adapted from the book by Barbara Robinson.

“This cast is working hard to bring this funny and touching story to life on stage,” Donovan said. “The age range is from adults and teens with lots of stage experience to the youngest cast members ages 7 to 9 who are making their stage debuts in the angel choir. It adds to the fun that quite a few family members are sharing this experience together.”
