ROCHESTER, Minn. — State investigators are looking into the death of a suspect who struggled with Rochester police officers.

Authorities identified the man as 39-year-old Mark Adam Prom. Rochester officers attempted to arrest him on a felony warrant Friday. Officials say he ran from police and assaulted one officer as she caught up with him. That officer and another one subdued Prom and as they were handcuffing him, he appeared to have a medical issue and stopped breathing.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says officers tried to revive Prom, but he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The officers are on administrative leave.
