Austin Bruins forward Chris Fischer was named Central Division Star of the Week Monday.

Fischer, a 20-year old team captain, helped the Bruins to a weekend home sweep of Aberdeen to run their undefeated streak to three straight games. For the weekend, the native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, had two goals and two assists for four points and was a +3.

In Friday’s 5-3 win, Fischer chimed in with an assist on a goal that tied the game at 2-2 at the time.

On Saturday, he elevated his game to register two goals and an assist in a 6-3 win.

For the season, Fischer has six points in seven games and has led the Bruins to second place in the Central Division.

“Chris does a great job of creating turnovers and then giving himself and his teammates chances,” said Bruins head coach Chris Tok. “He plays a complete game and has great hockey sense. He is not a flashy player, but he works hard and utilizes his teammates.”
