Alumni Update: May scores a TD for Winona State

FOOTBALL

Alan May, a 2011 Southland grad, got his first Division II college football action and he also scored his first touchdown as he hauled in a 57-yard touchdown pass during Winona State’s 58-6 win over Crookston Saturday.

May, who red-shirted last season, led the Warriors with 138 all-purpose yards in the win as he also returned punts and kicks.

Evan Bungum, a 2011 Hayfield grad, is playing his first season at wide receiver for Rochester Community and Technical College.

Bungum has caught two passes for 17 yards and a score in for the Yellowjackets (2-0 overall) and Bungum also had two punts with an average of 33 yards per kick.

VOLLEYBALL

Kaylee Bunne, a 2010 LeRoy-Ostrander grad, has played in all four matches for St. Mary’s University in Winona this season.

Bunne is fifth on the team with 17 kills and she is third on the Cardinals (3-1 overall) with six blocks.

GOLF

Austin grad Catherine Wagner began her senior season with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire golf team by taking ninth overall with 163 strokes in the Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational at Mill Run and Wild Ridge Golf Courses in Eau Claire recently.

UWEC finished fourth at the 20-team invite.

SOCCER

Laine Hicks, a 2010 Austin grad, has attempted one shot in two games at North Carolina Wesleyan.

The Bishops off are off to a 1-1 start.

CROSS COUNTRY

Colin Sheehan, a 2009 Pacelli grad, took 23rd out of 64 runners for Saint Mary’s University at the three-team SMU Invite in Winona Sept. 3.

Sheehan finished the four-mile run in 23:36.40 for SMU, which won the meet.
