Rebels sweep Albert Lea

ALBERT LEA —The Southland volleyball team opened its season with a convincing three-game sweep over Albert Lea on the road Monday.

The Rebels (1-0 overall) topped the Tigers (0-1 overall) by scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-23.

Sophomore Morgan Schmitz led Southland with seven kills and Elizabeth May added six kills and two ace blocks.

“We came out aggressive and ready to play,” Southland head coach Angie Smith said. “We were scrappy out there and it was fun to watch. We really clicked.”
