Former Austin Bruins goaltender Tyler Bruggeman has committed to play Division III hockey at St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.

Bruggeman played in 42 games last season for Austin and he finished with 27 wins and a save 92.2 save percentage. He had a couple years in the USHL with Des Moines and Fargo.

“On my visit to St. Scholastica, I felt like I was at home,” said Bruggeman, who is originally from Mankato. “I love the campus and the staff was extremely helpful. I’m looking forward to playing another four years of hockey, while getting a great education.”

Bruins head coach Chris Tok said Bruggeman will bring his intense style of play to the next level.

“Tyler will be a great addition to the Saints hockey program. He brings superior work ethic and exudes a tremendous amount of passion for the game of hockey,” Tok said.

Bruggeman will begin his career at St. Scholastica this season.

The Bruins open their season against Amarillo in Blaine Sept. 12 at 1:45 p.m.

Austin’s home opener is against Coulee Region Sept. 29 at 7:05 p.m.
