HAYFIELD — The Hayfield Legion baseball team opened its postseason with an 8-4 win over No. 7 seeded Byron in the first round of the double-elimination District playoffs in Hayfield Monday.

Drew Streightiff tied the game at 3-3 with a two-out, three-run homer in the third inning and Hayfield tacked on four more runs in that frame to go up 7-3.

Byron loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth inning, but Tyler Nelson came on in relief and forced a double play and a groundout to keep Bryon from scoring.
