Rebels rally past Randolph in baseball playoffs

ADAMS — The Southland baseball team came up with a run at the right time as it edged out No. 3 seeded Randolph (6-14 overall) 7-6 in the Section 1A West Division semifinals in Adams Thursday.

The No. 2 Rebels (13-9 overall) took the lead for good when Mike Goergen hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-6 in the fourth inning.

four and two-thirds of an inning of without allowing a hit and he struck out nine.

The Rebels will now move into the double-elimination portion of the postseason as they take on No. 1 seeded Kenyon-Wanamingo at Riverland Saturday at 10 a.m.

Regardless of the outcome of their first game, Southland will play again at 1p.m.
