RCC announces its athletes of the year

Riverland Community College announced Robin Arjes and Matt Boswell as its athletes of the year recently.

Arjes, an Austin grad, played volleyball, basketball and softball for the Blue Devils this year. In volleyball, she was second on the team with 42 blocks and she added 124 kills. In basketball, she averaged over 8 points per game and five rebounds, to go along with a team-high 42 steals.

In softball, Arjes hit .304, while leading RCC in homeruns (6), doubles (7) and RBIs (16).

Matt Boswell, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, has been a two-year standout on the baseball team.

Boswell is hitting .365 this spring with a team-high 54 hits, to go along with 41 runs and 13 doubles. As a freshman, Boswell was named All-MCAC and All-State as he hit .398 with 10 doubles, 29 runs and 31 RBIs.
