The Riverland softball team didn’t have too much trouble scoring, but it couldn’t hold off the Yellowjackets as they lost both games of a doubleheader by scores of 11-9 and 14-5 in Riverland Wednesday.

Austin grad Robin Arjes provided plenty of the punch for the Blue Devils on the day as she had a two-run homer in each game and finished with six RBIs.

“Our hitting is fantastic, but we’ve just got to get better on defense,” RCC head coach Al Eckmann said.

The Blue Devils (3-21 overall, 3-9 MCAC South) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first game, but fell behind 9-4. Arjes, who now has five homeruns on the season, hit a two-run homer to make it 9-6, but RCTC (13-12 overall, 10-2 MCAC South) pulled away.
