FARIBAULT — The Austin baseball team couldn’t track down the pitching of Faribault’s Danny Pierce as they lost 7-1 to the Falcons (1-6 overall, 1-5 Big Nine) on the road Tuesday.

Pierce struck out nine and allowed just three hits and zero walks.

“You’ve gotta give credit to him, he didn’t walk anybody and he mixed it up,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said. “He was tough.”

Austin (2-5 overall, 2-4 Big Nine) scored its lone run in the fourth when Zach Huntley doubled and scored on an overthrow on a bunt single by Marcus Stoulil.
