Area wrestlers bow out at state meet

ST. PAUL – All three area wrestlers missed out on placing at the state wrestling tournament as they lost their second match in the wrestlebacks round at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Saturday.

In Class ‘AA,’ Grand Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander’s Noah Schlee was beaten by Keng Xiong of St. Paul Johnson 5-2 at 126-pounds and Lucas Roe was beaten by Nathanel Holecek of Thief River Falls-Goodridge 6-4 at 152.

Schlee, a senior, finishes with a record of 35-5 overall and Roe, a junior, finishes with a record of 35-6 overall.

In Class ‘A,’ Blooming Prairie’s Jarrod Grunklee lost 17-4 to Aaron Bruhler of LeSeur-Henderson at 285.

Grunklee, a junior, finishes with a record of 31-12.
