Sometimes a Pooh-bear knows the world best

“Among the great things which are to be found among us, the Being of Nothingness is the greatest.” — Leonardo Da Vinci

The Tao of Pooh would agree with Leonardo. The Tao of Pooh ought to be required reading in the home and the school.

A piece from the Tao of Pooh reads: “What do you like doing best in the world, Pooh?”

“Well,” said Pooh, “what I like best…” and then he had to stop and think.

Because although eating honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began which was better than when you were, but he didn’t know what it was called.

Another short excerpt: “If people were superior to animals, they’d take better care of the world,” said Pooh.

Reading on, “The surest way to become tense, awkward, and confused is to develop a mind that tries too hard — one that thinks too much. The animals in the forest don’t think too much; they just are.”

Something quite unlike The Tao of Pooh is coming to town on Sept. 23. That is when Austin’s class of 1961 arrives at the Holiday Inn, that’s on Friday and classmates will try to do their best to remember the names. I’m guessing a number of those faces will not look quite like they did in earlier times.

The cost for that Friday night will be $15.00 for classmates and no cost to spouses or guests.

What will be full of mingling I suspect will be predictable and some will be a surprise.

Saturday night will be the big one at the Country Club where a dinner will take place and there will be a greater cost. That will be on the 24th.

If you are wondering about the details call Joe Davison at 507-433-8025 for information regarding the events or email Joe at Daviso@gmail.com and he will get back to you. Joe wasn’t sure where the “n” went in his email address.

The 50th reunion is quite some distance from our graduation in 1961 and there will be many — “Remember when’s.”
