Rural schools in Mower County closed early Thursday afternoon in anticipation of possible flooding.

Southland Public Schools closed at 1 p.m. Hayfield Community Schools also closed at around the same time, with Brownsdale Elementary School closing at 12:45 p.m. and Hayfield Elementary and High School closing at 1 p.m.
