Austin residents who have sandbags or items that were damaged by the flood can place their items in the street between Monday and Wednesday of this week to be picked up by the city free of charge.

The city’s effort is in response to the flooding that took place Thursday and Friday in Austin and surrounding areas.

In Austin, Turtle Creek and the Cedar River caused flooding issues. Roads were closed and areas of the city were under water following heavy rain throughout the day Thursday and Friday.

Public Works Director Jon Erichson said the items must be placed in the street and not on the boulevard to be eligible for the pick-up.

Residents may call the city engineering office at 437-9950 if they have any questions regarding pick-up.
