14 Cub Scouts to graduate

A night of big accomplishment is quickly approaching for a group of local 10- and 11-year-old boys.

Fourteen Cub Scouts will earn their Arrow of Light awards and transfer into Boy Scouts at the annual Blue and Gold banquet, 5:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Augustine’s Church basement.

Dennis Hagan, who has been the scouts Webelows leader for the past five years, said he can’t remember the last time this many youngsters moved onto Boy Scouts at one time. While that is a positive sign for the Boy Scouts organization, Hagan said the boys are the ones doing positive things.

“I think it’s a good start for them,” he said. “If they stick with it in Boy Scouts and continue on, I think it will help them all the way into adulthood.”
