Watts Cookin’ to remodel

Longtime Austin diner and truck stop Watts Cookin’ will soon have a new look.

Owner Kermit Watts announced he will start a complete remodel of the restaurant’s dining room beginning Monday, May 14. While he will close the dining room portion of the restaurant, the front area, or coffee shop, will remain open 24 hours daily as usual. He said they will work on the remodel through the week, and he expects to be finished by May 24.

When it’s complete, Watts said they will have new tables, chairs and bar stools, and will have a small bar and seating in the north portion of the restaurant, with the south portion remaining a dining area. It will also have a new entrance on the northeast corner.

Customers can still use the entrance through the convenience store.
