In these dry conditions make sure trees are watered

Please be aware that your trees may need water with the dry spell we are experiencing.

You should water your trees with a slow drip to allow the water to soak in to the first 12 inches of soil.

Visit the Youth Activity Center located in the east rooms of Riverside arena.

Enter from the northeast doors located on the parking lot side of the building.

The YAC hours are 3:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 1 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.  The YAC is open to students in grades 5 to 12 in Mower County.

Your next public skate opportunity will be 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday; 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays Sept. 21 and 28 at Riverside Arena.

The cost to skate is $4 and $1 to rent skates.  Ask us about family or individual memberships. They can be purchased at our office or at the arena during open skates.

On Tuesday, enjoy “Owls to Orchids” at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium with Mark “Sparky” Stensaas.

The event is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center and the Austin Audubon. The event starts at 7 p.m. and they ask that you RSVP by Monday at 507-437-7519 or email jchnatur@smig.net.
