Calendar promises warmer weather

Are you bored with winter and anxiously awaiting spring? We are, too.

Never fear.  There are plenty of events on the calendar guaranteed to help you fill the weeks until the calendar promises warmer weather.

The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau has a calendar on our website at www.austincvb.com, where you can find information about each of the following:

Upcoming events
•Sunday: Blue Jeans, Billy & Beethoven at the Paramount Theatre.  Guitarist Billy McLaughlin and the Austin Symphony Strings are sure to warm up the day. Show starts at 2 p.m.
•Thursday to March 3: “The Philadelphia Story” will be presented on the Frank W. Bridges stage at Riverland Community College. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. except for the March 3 show which will be at 2 p.m.
•Through March 10: Uncle Sam’s New Deal traveling exhibit is on display at the Austin Public Library during library hours. The Exhibit is sponsored by the APL & Mower County Historical Society.
•March 1 to 3: The seventh annual Stampin’, Scrappin’ Retreat for stampers and scrapbookers will be held at the Austin Holiday Inn.
•March 2: The Lovin’ Spoonful will perform their hits like “Summer in the City” and “Daydream” at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
•March 5: The second annual “Women of Achievement” dinner sponsored by the Zonta Club will be held St. Edward’s Corcoran Center. Silent auction and guest speaker included.
•March 8: If You Want to Dance, Dance annual show at Riverland Community College’s Frank W. Bridges Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
•March 10: The annual Variety Show by Riverland Community College’s music department at 2 p.m. at the Frank W.  Bridges Theatre at 2 p.m.
•March 14: Comedy Showcase will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
•March 15: The Age of Aquarius will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
•March 21: Tonic Sol Fa, back by popular demand, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
•March 22 to May 17: Minnesota on the Map traveling exhibit from the MN Historical Society will be on display at the Austin Public Library. Sponsored by the APL & MCHS.
•March 24: Ian Shapinski will be in concert at the Paramount at 2 p.m.
•March 22: Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Free event, open to the community.
•March 28: Bill W. and Dr. Bob will be performing at the Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
•March 22 to 24: Austin Home & Vacation Show at Packer Arena, Friday and Saturday from 3 to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As you can see, there are more than enough activities (something almost daily.) to keep you busy until March 20th when spring officially arrives.  That is just 3.5 weeks away.
