The group that puts together Tuesdays on Main events is expanding, starting with a name change.

The Austin Downtown Alliance will switch its name to the Austin Community Alliance, in part to encourage people and businesses from across the city to participate in Tuesdays on Main events, and in part to expand Tuesdays on Main into community-wide events.

“I’ve got a lot of different events,” Kiersten Hall, executive director of the Austin Community Alliance said.

Hall said she wanted to change the name last year as Tuesdays on Main established itself, in order to differentiate the group from Rochester events over the summer and to keep Austin’s small-town feel a vital part of community events.

“It’s really a correction I’ve been meaning to make,” she said.

Hall and other Alliance members hope to plan bigger events starting as early as the end of 2014.
