Truck thefts may be linked to burglary

Authorities are investigating two alleged truck thefts that could be linked to an attempted burglary last Friday at the Cedar River Golf Course.

The owner of the 1993 Toyota Tacoma truck that was found in a bean field near the golf course reported to St. Peter police that his truck was stolen. Local authorities found the truck after an Adams police officer allegedly watched someone drive into the bean field from the golf course after trying to break into the clubhouse. However, authorities never found the driver.

An Adams man — who lives south of the golf course — told the Mower County Sheriff’s office on Monday that his Ford F-150 had been stolen, as well. Police have found that truck in St. Peter.

According to Chief Deputy Mark May of the Mower County Sheriff’s Department, both law enforcement agencies are investigating the trucks and looking for links. No items were taken from the golf course on Friday morning; however, the front door was busted and propped open by a chair. Authorities have not released the name of their suspect.
