Deputies investigate tire fire
Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a pile of burning tires in Waltham after area firefighters responded to a fire report Thursday morning.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said deputies were called out to the 59300 block of 307th Street in Waltham at 4 a.m. Thursday for a fire in a wooded area. Once there, deputies could smell an odor of burning tires.
Hayfield firefighters put out the fire, according to Amazi. Firefighters were called to the area Thursday afternoon to put out the fire again.
