1 convicted in October burglary; 2nd at large

An Austin man was sentenced Friday to 20 years’ supervised probation and 40 hours of community service for his role in threatening another Austin couple.

Roberto Javier Robledo, 31, was convicted of first-degree burglary, a felony, for entering a couple’s home in October with another man — 25-year-old John Alfonso Perales — who also threatened one resident at knifepoint. The court complaint states that Robledo entered the home with Perales and yelled, “You owe money … pay up!”

The victim told both men to leave; however, Perales reportedly shoved the victim onto a couch and held him at knifepoint. The court complaint adds that the victim was able to shove Perales away; however, Perales grabbed the phone and threw it when the victim called 911. The victim then yelled to his girlfriend to call 911, and one of the burglars also grabbed her phone and ran out the door, the report states. It adds that the male victim ran next door to call 911.

Police later arrested Robledo on Dec. 6 after Facebook posts accused him of committing the crime. Robledo denied the accusations but admitted that he previously lived with the victims and disputed with the man over a girlfriend. Perales has not appeared in court, and a warrant is on file for his arrest.
