No contact, probation violations land Austin man in prison

An Austin man accused of violating a no contact order and pushing a woman down part of a staircase was sentenced Monday in Mower County Court to 21 months in prison.

Thalamus Howard Wilson, 33, was convicted of two counts of violating a no contact order in November and appeared in court Monday and last week on a report of a probation violation. Wilson was originally sentenced to five years’ supervised probation but must now complete a prison term. He is given credit for time served since last June.

According to the court complaint, Wilson and a woman got into an argument, and she reportedly asked Wilson to leave and put some of his belongings outside. The woman told law enforcement this is not the first time Wilson had assaulted her; although, she did not call the police for the other alleged incidents. The woman said Wilson pushed her and she fell down two steps at the bottom of the staircase, a court complaint states. When officers questioned Wilson, he said he “did not touch her” and only “pushed her.”

According to court documents, Wilson has two previous domestic assault convictions and one third-degree assault conviction in Mower County.
