Counselors to help students deal with siblings’ death
ZIMMERMAN — Counselors will be available at an elementary school in eastern Minnesota where students will deal with the loss of two classmates.
Students at Zimmerman Elementary School return from spring break Tuesday. They will likely look for answers as to why 7-year-old Stephanie Shields and her 6-year-old brother, Nolan, were found dead on Easter Sunday.
The bodies of the children and their mother, 35-year-old Stephanie Shields, were found in their home by a family member. Authorities said no suspects are being sought in the deaths, but declined to explain. They also won’t say how the three died.
Principal Susan Johnston said school officials were notified Monday of the siblings’ deaths. In addition to grief counseling, resource materials will be made available to parents on how to talk with their children about the deaths.
