Hair Plus closing Jan. 1, owner retiring

Hair Plus salon is closing at the end of the year, after more than 50 years in Austin.

Owner Diane True said she was retiring after running the business for 10 1/2 years and is moving to Hutchinson, Minn.

The salon was originally opened by Terry Fleener in 1961 as Mr. Terry’s. True bought the salon from Jan Alm in July 2002 and decided to keep the name Hair Plus.

True said she was grateful to all of the customers who came to Hair Plus over the years.

“I have enjoyed taking care of their haircare needs and … sharing family stories and lifetime events over the years,” she said in a statement.

Hair Plus stylists Chris Kanne, Chere Eng and Pam Hines will relocate to Sterling Beauty Salon and continue to take appointments as of Jan. 2.
