The threat of rain held the car count down a bit this week but the racing was still top notch at Chateau Raceway. A couple of third generation drivers topped their divisions this week and the IMCA Stock Cars saw their first repeat winner on the seventh night of racing.

The S&S Auto Salvage Hornets kicked off the feature races with a five-car field. Gary Stahl quickly passed Braeden Allen and stormed to his second win in a row. Allen would finish second and Zach Elward was third.

The Misgen Auto Parts Pure Stocks were not up to their usual wild antics this week. Their feature was relatively calm as Keith Weber drove off from row one and led the entire 15-lap feature. Weber was challenged by Cole Lonergan briefly in the late stages of the race. Weber brought home his second win in a row with Lonergan second, Brady Krohnberg finished third with Stacy Krohnberg fourth and Brandon Vogt fifth.

Austin Schrage led the L&D Ag USRA B-Mods with Scott Demmer and Kylie Kath in close pursuit. They had a dandy race up front and a caution on lap seven kept them that way. On the restart, Kath went high, scraped the frontstretch wall and then attempted to split Schrage and Demmer. Kath made contact with Schrage in turn two while Demmer stole the lead. Schrage continued but then spun on the backstretch and was sent to the tail.

Demmer and Kath then continued a hot battle up front. Kath challenged for the lead several times but was unable to get past Demmer. Demmer held on for his second win of the season. Kath was second and Schrage rebounded for third while Todd Borwege and John Warrington were in the top five.

Kevin Vogt took the lead off row one in the Best Disposal WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Vogt then got turned around by Brent Holland and that collected Kory Adams and Jason Newkirk. Adams went to the pits minus his right door and his crew changed the left rear tire. Newkirk also continued with right front damage to his car.

Mike Blowers was on the fly from fifth and was right on Vogt for the lead. Nathan Schumacher and Jesse Stahl were side-by-side for third with Tony Shaner right behind them. Blowers took command on lap four and then Vogt drifted high on the next circuit and dropped out of the top five. Blowers would drive away for his second win at Chateau with Schumacher in second. Shaner finished third while Adams got back to fourth and Stahl finished fifth.

Don Schaefer took the lead off row one in the Farm Boy BBQ WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. He was chased by Steven Amundson and Anthony Condit with Troy Dahle fourth. Schaefer jumped the cushion in turn three on lap three and Amundson stole the lead. A caution on lap six kept everyone tight for the restart.

Condit bolted by Schaefer for second on the start and Greg Pfeifer Jr. came to third and Cody Gardner also moved to fourth. Another yellow flag flew for a two-car tangle and this was a turning point in the race.

Condit chose the low groove behind Amundson and put Pfeifer Jr. to the outside. Pfeifer Jr. rode the high groove to second at the drop of the green flag. Then Pfeifer Jr. took after Amundson up front and they had a great race for the lead. They started to come up on lapped traffic with a few laps left.

Pfeifer Jr. nabbed the lead on lap 13 and the third generation driver took his second win of the season. Amundson had another good finish in second with Cody Gardner third. Condit ended up fourth and Jason Born finished fifth.

The Power 96/KQAQ 970AM IMCA Stock Cars has eight cars start their 20-lap feature. Blake Cole had the advantage right off the bat, but Cole was fiercely challenged by Dan Mackenthun. Those two drivers put on a great show up front when they dueled door-to-door for several laps.

Mackenthun took the lead on lap 10 while Austin Curtin moved up to third. Andrew Inman pounded the turn three wall on lap 16 and ended up on top of the barrier to bring out the yellow. From there Mackenthun led the final four laps for his second win with Travis Shipman in second. Curtin was third with Cole fourth and Ryan Goergen in the top five.

Joe Horgdal and Joel Alberts paced the French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified 25-lapper. Horgdal led until lap three when Alberts made the pass with Brandon Davis third. Davis quickly worked past Horgdal and then drove up alongside Alberts for the lead.

Alberts and Davis were even until lap six when Davis took over. Horgdal was third until lap seven when he dropped out and gave that spot to Jason Cummins. Cummins then raced Alberts for second and took that spot away on lap nine. Davis stormed away for his fourth win at Chateau with Cummins second. Alberts finished in third with last week’s winner Jacob Dahle fourth and A.J. Wiste fifth.
